Dear Jerry,
Last week, AFM member Ray Chew hosted the first of his four-part virtual series on Facebook Live to raise funds for union freelancers who have been impacted by COVID-19. It was a proud moment for all AFM members.. Musicians standing together with other musicians in good times—and bad times—is what our union is truly about.
I hope you will join me in watching the next episode of Ray Chew Live. Marcus Miller, Chick Corea, and inspirational speaker Iyanla Vanzant will be joining Ray Chew tomorrow (May 14th) on Facebook Live at 9 p.m. ET /6 p.m. PT for music, conversation and to raise funds for AFM members. You can watch the show here.
Funds raised on Ray Chew Live go to the Musicians’ Relief Fund which is designed for AFM members primarily working as freelancers. You may be eligible to apply for a payment if you are a union musician in good standing who has lost work as a result of COVID-19 and aren’t receiving payments that flow from an AFM contract. Learn more about the Musicians’ Relief Fund here.
For those of you able to give at this time, please donate to help freelance musicians who need help.
Remember that musicians standing together can get through this time stronger than ever!
In Unity,
Ray Hair
AFM International President
